Justine too strong for Yanina  24/01/2010
Yanina wasn’t able to win her fourth round match against Justine Henin, but she didn’t make a fool of herself. Justine won in 3 sets.

Yanina took a strong start in her 4th round match, and it was clear that Justine would have to work hard to win this match. Yanina won her first service game, and already in Justine’s first service game she obtained break points. Justine successfully wiped these break points out en won her service game. At 2-2 Justine was the first to break, but Yanina fought back immediately and answered with a re-break. Both players dind’t budge an i for the rest of the set, but at 6-5 Yanina was the first to gain set points. Justine served well, won her service game and a tiebreak was to decide this first set. Both served dominantly in this tiebreak, but Justine was stronger at the deciding points. At 4-3 she was able to make 2 mini-breaks and she treated herself to three setpoints. She showed no mercy and decided the first set with a stunning volley.

During the first game of the 2nd set, Justine was again bothered by her thighinjury, from which she already suffered at the beginning of the tournament. Yanina kept Justine running with aggressive tennis and in no time she was 2-0 ahead. Justine won her next service game, but then it was over and out for her in this 2nd set: 6-1 for Yanina.

Justine recoverd quickly from the second set. She made a break in Yanina’s first service game, and was quickly 2-0 ahead. Yanina did her very best to set things right, but Justine kept on serving strongly and dominanted her own service games. At 5-3, Yanina was serving to stay in the match. The first break-, and thus matchpoint, was enough for Justine to win this exciting match.

Yanina lost today, but she can look back at an overall good tournament. Justine will meet Nadia Petrova in quarterfinals, who beat Svetlana Kuznetsova in 3 sets.
