Yanina fights back to give Belgium the lead again  07/02/2010
In the Fed Cup encounter against Poland, Yanina also won her second singles match, defeating world number 9 Agnieszka Radwanska in just under three hours.

Yanina started the match against the world number 9 knowing she had never beaten a top-10 player before. Radwanska was right on top of her from the first game onwards. Yanina fought of four break points, but Radwanska did convert her fifth chance, taking the lead, and moving on quickly to win the first set 6-1.

The Polish number one also kept playing at a high level in the beginning of the second set. The situation looked most inconvenient for Belgium, when Yanina found herself down 3-0 again. At that point, she started fighting. She held serve for the first time in the match, and converted a break point, after which she levelled it all up again. A tiebreak was to decide on the second set. Therein, Radwanska took the lead once again. However, Yanina did not give in. She saved two match points and took the tiebreak, 8-6.

The third set was a nailbiter once again. Yanina had to neutralise some break chances for Radwanska right away, but did so succesfully. She was the first one to break her opponent's serve, taking a 4-2 lead. Radwanska, however, refused to give up, and won three games in a row, thus offering herself a chance to serve for victory. Once again, Yanina tried to hang in - she got a break point and converted it: 5 all. She then held serve and got some chances to finsh the match on Radwanska's service game. Finally, she converted her fourth match point, in just under three hours of play.

This way, Yanina gave Belgium the lead again. Later on Sunday, Kirsten Flipkens followed Yanina's example by defeating Marta Domachowska in two sets, thus handing Belgium the victory. Belgium will play in April for promotion to World Group I - the draw for this encounter is yet to be made.
