Yanina crashes out in first round again 15/02/2010

For the second time in a row, Yanina lost in the first round. In Dubai, Shahar Peer proved too strong in three sets. Yanina committed too many double faults against the Israeli.

Yanina was the 13th seed in Dubai, and that number proved not to bring any successes for her. Yanina started quite strongly against Shahar Peer - firing off an ace and quickly taking a 3-0 lead. Peer tried to fight back, saving another breakpoint, and subsequently breaking Yanina's serve. In the next game, the Israeli then committed a double fault on break point again to hand Yanina a 4-2 lead. Yanina continued to struggle on her own service. She did, however, fight off a break chance, and made it 5-2, and at 5-3, she succesfully served out the first set.

The second set started quite badly for Yanina. It was now Shahar Peer who took a 3-0 lead. At 1-3, Yanina got three chances to break back, but could not seize the opportunity. Peer made it 4-1, and broke once more at 5-2 to take the second set.

At the beginning of the third set, it was Yanina who first broke her opponent's serve. She held the advantage up to 4-2, but then started to commit to many errors. She wasted a break point, and in the next game, her ninth double fault of the match saw Peer level up to 4-4. Yanina withstood the pressure at 5-4, but not at 6-5. Peer got a match point on Yanina's serve, and won the match.
